Academic Agreement Review

To submit Academic Agreements for review and/or Provost signature including clinical and non-clinical affiliation agreements, Research and Sponsored Program Agreements, MOUs for academic purposes, and all other agreements that support the academic functions of the University, but that do not require the payment of money. Additionally, you may request Office of General Counsel assistance in creating a completely new contract from scratch, if necessary.

Academic Departments & Business Offices

The Business Applications team support third-party application integration for several academic departments and business offices. Examples of software include CourseLeaf, OnBase,Terminal4, and TerraDotta.

Active Learning Classroom

Active Learning Classrooms are designed to increase student-faculty interaction or encourage groups of students to work together to complete a task.

Administrative Rights

To install certain software and hardware on a TWU PC, users must have administrative rights on that computer.

Annual Report

Technology develops its annual report to demonstrate its value to the University.

Anti-virus and Malware Protection

Antivirus is protective software designed to defend a computer against malicious software.

Assessment Software

TWU Technology works with faculty on custom software solutions, particularly to innovate in areas such as assessment.


Cable TV Service

Charter Communications provides basic cable TV service is provided in all residence hall rooms, as well as select office buildings on the TWU Denton campus.

Calendar (Google Suite and Outlook)

Multiple calendars can be created and shared, allowing different levels of permissions for each user.

Canvas (Learning Management System)

Canvas is a web-based application which allows instructors to put class materials on the Internet. It provides a variety of tools to facilitate teaching and learning. All courses at TWU use Canvas.

Cellular Discounts

A TWU email address ( may allow a discount on cellular phone service.

Classroom A/V Technologies

Classroom AV and media include Panopto lecture capture, Zoom, microphones, clickers, AMX touch panels and Apple TV.

Classroom and Videoconference Technology Training

Upon request, a member of the classroom support team will meet with the user and train them on how to use the technology in the classroom or videoconference room.

Classroom Technology Upgrades and Hardware

TWU classrooms are designed to meet the varied needs of the faculty, students and departments across the University. Classroom technology hardware serves as a medium to accentuate, enhance, and facilitate pedagogy.

Cloud Storage (Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive)

Google Drive for Faculty and Staff is a cloud storage service that allows users to upload, create, edit, and work collaboratively with others on a variety of documents online. Microsoft OneDrive allows users to get to files and photos from anywhere, on any device and to share and work together with anyone.

Computer Allocation and Replacements

The computer replacement program provides all eligible employees a computer and manages the operational costs associated with the rapid growth of technology related to personal computing by a replacement cycle.

Computer Classrooms

By allowing students access to computers in class, they can fully engage their professor during class time and learn to effectively use the programs required for class.

Conference Room Technology

IT Solutions provides several video-conference rooms equipped with Cisco codecs and HD quality LifeSize units.

Custom Application/Form Development

Sometimes off-the-shelf software cannot meet the unique and complex requirements of a department, group, or business organization. TWU’s team of experienced developers and project coordinators can help, whether the need is a minor adjustment to existing software or the implementation of a major system.

Custom Application/Form Testing

After IT Solutions completes a custom application on behalf of a Department or Group, extensive testing is required to ensure that the application both functions as desired and has the look and feel wanted.

CV Content Management System (MY1CV/Sedona)

Sedona allows faculty to input contributions to teaching, scholarship, service, and other CV-related data into a database.


Data Transfers

Technology can assist users with data transfer in the event that files need to be moved from one device or location to another.

Database Administration

The TWU DBAs support Oracle and Microsoft SQL databases for the TWU community.

Digital Signage

Digital signage is a technology that allows users to post information that would traditionally be put on a bulletin board on a digital display.

Directory (Email and Telephone)

TWU provides a searchable directory of faculty, staff, and student employees. There is also a directory search by department.

Domain Management and AD Usernames (Active Directory)

TWU operates two primary domains: pioneer (for students) and fs (for faculty and staff). Active directory is the primary system TWU uses to create usernames.


Email Accounts

TWU utilizes both Microsoft Exchange and Google Suite for Education for email service.

Emergency Notifications (Pioneer Alerts)

Texas Woman's University Department of Public Safety uses a variety of methods to alert students, faculty, and staff in case of a significant emergency on a campus.

Enterprise Application Integration

IT Solutions assists in evaluating enterprise business application integration needs and ensuring the solution approach will fulfill the requested needs. This service can be requested whenever there is a need for integrating enterprise business applications which usually means accessing source data, transforming the data, and providing target data into a target system.

Event Support & Webstreaming

IT Solutions assists with the audio and video recordings of events and productions sponsored by the University. IT Solutions provides high quality HD Video production and digital Audio recordings to broaden the reach of idea sharing that can be saved and shared on the web.

Export Controls on Electronic Devices

In accordance with TWU Regulation and Procedure 02.450, IT Solutions provides laptops and certificates for employees who plan to travel to foreign countries.


Forms and/or Workflow (SharePoint 2013 Nintex)

Google Analytics

Google Analytics is a service offered by Google that generates detailed statistics about a website's traffic and traffic sources, and measures such things as conversions and sales. It's the most widely used website statistics service.

Graphic Design Services and Poster Printing

The Center for Faculty Excellence can help with design and poster printing services.

Guest Access - Access to Services and Resources for Affiliate Personnel or Pre-Employment

Individuals such as contractors, visiting scholars, and others such as support staff from outside companies may be eligible for TWU portal usernames.


Hard Drive Magnetizing (Degausser)

Degaussing (magnetizing) hard drives is an industry best practice for data security.

Hardware Discounts

TWU negotiates with vendors to secure discounts on hardware for TWU students, faculty, and staff.


ID Cards, Card Readers, and Access Control Systems

ID cards and readers are managed by ID and Dining Services.

Information Security Investigations

TWU Information Security offers investigative and analysis services to assist with official investigations related to information resources.

Information Security Training

IT Solutions commits to a culture of cybersecurity awareness through outreach, training, and promotion. Information Security Training is mandated by the State of Texas and is required to be completed at hire and annually thereafter by all employees and contractors that use a computer for 25% or more of their responsibilities.

Instant Messaging (Google Chat, RingCentral, Skype for Business)

Microsoft Skype for Business and Google Meet are communications tools that offer instant messaging (IM), as well as many other features to enhance collaboration and communication in an organization.


Labs and Kiosks

Client Services employs a dedicated team of technicians to ensure stable operation of all TWU computer labs and computer classrooms.

Laptop and Mobile Device Upgrades

Laptops and other mobile devices owned by Texas Woman's University should be regularly scheduled for maintenance and upgrades.

Mailing Lists (Listserv)

Technology coordinates mailing lists associated with HR records for faculty, staff, students, adjunct faculty, GTAs, etc. Lists are also broken-down by department and by campus.

Managed Workstations and Patch Management

The Managed Workstation program is TWU’s approach to managing University software and hardware computer needs.

Moving Computers (Inventory Control)

All computers are classified as “controlled items” by State Property Accounting (SPA). TWU is required by the State to maintain an inventory of all computers. Property Control in Facilities Management is responsible for maintaining the inventory of controlled and capitalized items.

Offsite Network Connection (VPN)

Use of a “virtual private network” application creates a secure, encrypted communication channel over the Internet that effectively connects the user’s computer directly to the TWU network.

On-Demand, Online Training (LinkedInLearning)

LinkedIn Learning is an online subscription library that teaches the latest software tools and skills through high-quality instructional videos taught by recognized industry experts.

IT Solutions provides on-site support for each of our three campuses.

Oracle E-Business Suite (Phoenix)

In addition to primary support with the Oracle "Phoenix" E-Business Suite (Budget, Finance, & HR) system, Enterprise Applications can provide "out of the box" support to meet the unique requirements of a TWU department, group, or business organization--whether the need is a minor adjustment to the existing software or the implementation of a new product, new screen/form, report, or process.

Departments and components may request activation of a phone bank to use for outreach and/or fundraising.

Portal (Pioneer Portal)

Pioneer Portal is a user’s gateway to self-service.

Printing and Printer Setup

Printing is available through network printers (owned or leased). Open access computer lab printers are managed by GoPrint stations that are used to track and release print requests.

Procurement Contract Review

Request Office of General Counsel review for Procurement Contracts. Additionally, you may request Office of General Counsel assistance in creating a completely new contract from scratch, if necessary.

Shared Email and Public Folders

Microsoft Outlook allows for the creation of email-based “public folders” that can be shared among a group of TWU employees. The shared email service is typically used by departments that need a general email address, by student organizations and clubs to share information, and by workgroups large and small to collaborate with co-workers.

SSO Authentication (Shibboleth)

Shibboleth is the authentication system that enables access to web applications via single sign-on. Portal ID account holders use Shibboleth to gain access to these resources.

Statistics Software

A variety of statistical software is available at TWU. Popular software includes SPSS, nVivo, R, and SAS.

Student Information

Enterprise Applications teams support third-party application integration for student information systems. Examples of software include Canvas and Hobson's Connect.

Student Information System (Ellucian Colleague WebUI)

Colleague is the software package that houses the University’s information in areas that include processing of student applications and registration, scheduling of classes, assisting in financial aid processing, processing of payment of tuition and fees, reporting grades and transcripts, and more.

Student Self-Service and Student Planning

Students have access to self-service where they can plan their degree, register for courses, contact their academic advisors, and (soon) manage holds and financial information.

Student Technology Assistants and Resources Program (STAR)

Student Technology Assistants and Resources (STAR) is a technology resource program for all currently enrolled TWU students.

Survey Tool (PsychData)

PsychData, which is similar to software programs such as Survey Monkey, has additional features pertinent to academic research.

Systems Administration

System Administration services provides installation, management, and support for servers running the Linux and Windows operating systems.


Teaching and Learning with Technology

The Office of Teaching and Learning with Technology (TLT) works with all instructors to incorporate technology into courses, and provides pedagogical and technical certification workshops, events, and specialized programs on a variety of topics. TLT serves as the point-of-contact to seek approval for off-campus face-to-face courses and educational activities offered outside Texas. TLT provides information and administrative services to online programs and future and current distance learners.

Technology Service Desk

Unlike a “help desk”, which primarily provides only information, a “service desk” owns the incidents and questions reported to it and has the training and ability to resolve a high percentage of queries, thereby facilitating faster resolution times to its customers and users.

Usernames and Passwords (Pioneer Portal)

All faculty, staff, and students associated with Texas Woman's University must have a Pioneer Portal account. This account is the key to unlocking several information pages that are found only on TWU's Intranet (Portal).


Video Conference

A high performance video conferencing system with accessories is available on each of the three campuses for the purpose of connecting students in classrooms across distances, as well as connecting business meetings meeting from various locations.

A virtual machine (VM) is an emulation of a particular computer system. Virtual machines operate based on the computer architecture and functions of a real or hypothetical computer, and their implementations may involve specialized hardware, software, or a combination of both.

Voice Conferencing - CenturyLink (Qwest)

Unified Communications has partnered with Centurylink (formerly Qwest) to provide HD audio conferencing for faculty and staff members on all TWU campuses.

Voice, Video, Text Chat (Google Meet, RingCentral, Zoom, or Skype for Business)

Individuals at TWU are encouraged to use Google Meet, RingCentral, Zoom, or Skype for Business as self-service chat and/or audio and video call services.

Voicemail for Faculty and Staff

TWU Voicemail provides TWU faculty and staff a convenient and cost-effective system for receiving, sending, and managing voicemail messages. RingCentral is a unified communications package which provides phone, messages, fax, text, chat, and meetings in one place. RingCentral services can be managed using desktop / mobile app or online account. Some features are available via phone. Voicemail and faxes can be delivered to email.

The Bursar's office manages all forms that require anonymous payments.

WebAdvisor allows users to access a variety of university services. The set of services available to a user depends on the role(s) the user has within the university.
