Information Security Training


Texas Woman’s University provides Information Security Training to all employees who use computing resources upon hire to learn about security best practices. Employees (including contracted employees) who use computing resources for 25% of their jobs must refresh their information security knowledge on an annual basis.

Individuals are added to the course based on their due date.
Look for an email from when you are due to complete training to access the course in Canvas.


  1. Access the training through Canvas (TWU’s Learning Management System): 
  2. At the top of the page, Accept the invitation to the training course.
  3. Select the Information Security Training course.
  4. Click the Get Started! button.
  5. Read/watch the material and click the Next button to progress through the course.
  6. When you arrive at the Information Security Training Quiz, click the Take the Quiz button.
  7. Complete the quiz. FYI: Answers auto-saved.
  8. When ready, click Submit Quiz.
  9. You can see your attempt history and score. You may choose to capture a screenshot. (We will also send you an email after the end of the month in which your training is due informing you of your score.)
  10. Scroll down to view details.
  11. When ready, click Account and then Logout.

  • The course can be completed on a mobile device, though not all videos may play on a mobile device. (Watching videos in the course is optional)

IT Solutions frequently posts information security-related information on InsideTWU and in their monthly newsletter. Information security tips are also made available through digital signage on each campus. IT Solutions is active in promoting National Cybersecurity Awareness month each October as a member of the Stop.Think.Connect. Academic Alliance.
