Web Browser. A software application for retrieving, presenting, and traversing information resources on the World Wide Web.
TWU Standard Options: Edge, Google Chrome (in computer labs/classrooms and by request), Safari (Macs), Firefox (via Software Center or Self-Service)

Word Processing. Using a computer to create, edit, and print documents. Of all computer applications, word processing is the most common.
TWU Standard Options: Microsoft Word, Google Docs

Data Analysis (spreadsheets). For organization, analysis and storage of data in tabular form.
TWU Standard Options: Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, SPSS

Presentations. Used to display information in the form of a slide show. It has three major functions: an editor that allows text to be inserted and formatted, a method for inserting and manipulating graphic images, and a slide-show system to display the content.

Desktop Publishing. The creation of documents using page layout skills on a personal computer. Desktop publishing software can generate layouts and produce typographic quality text and images comparable to traditional typography and printing.

Calendars. Calendar events are stored online and can be viewed from any location. Multiple calendars can be created and shared, allowing different levels of permissions for each user.

Email Client. A method of exchanging digital messages from an author to one or more recipients. Email operates across the Internet or other computer networks via an email provider's server facility.

PDF. A file format used to present documents in a manner independent of application software, hardware, and operating systems. Each PDF file encapsulates a complete description of a fixed-layout flat document, including the text, fonts, graphics, and other information needed to display it.
TWU Standard Options: Adobe Acrobat, Google Suite, Office

Web Design. Structured wiki- and Web page-creation tools enable anyone to develop webpages. TWU uses Terminal4 to manage its web content; however, students, faculty, and staff may also create their own wiki and websites with standard software.

Forms. Allows collection of information from users via a personalized survey or quiz. The information is then collected and automatically connected to a spreadsheet. The spreadsheet is populated with the survey and quiz responses.
TWU Standard Options: Google Forms, Nintex

Organization Charts. Business diagrams, such as flowchart, timeline, PivotDiagram, and organizational chart, as well as process diagrams, floor plans, and more.
TWU Standard Option: Microsoft Visio (department purchase), Google Drawings

Getting started

TWU machines come with productivity software installed. TWU students and employees may access Google Suite with their TWU credentials through any browser (Google Suite works best with the Chrome browser).
