RingCentral Setting Custom Rules for Out of Office

Use a Custom Rule in RingCentral to manage your availability while you are out of office. Rather than change your business hours, create custom rules for the holidays, vacation, lunch breaks, campus closure, and other planned events. 

  1. Navigate to service.ringcentral.com
  2. Select Single Sign-on, enter TWU email and password
  3. Select Settings
  4. Select Phone
  5. Select Call Rules and voicemail under Incoming calls
  6. Click +Add Rule
  7. Click Create custom rule
  8. Give the rule a name (e.g. Labor Day 2021)
  9. Click Next
  10. Select + Add schedule under Schedule
  11. Choose Specific date range using the calendar and times
  12. Click Set
  13. Click Next
  14. Choose routing option on how incoming calls should be routed:
    • Ring devices
    • Send to voicemail
    • Forward the call
    • Play an announcement. (Play a pre-recorded announcement and end the call afterwards)
      • Click the Announcement 
      • Change from Default to Custom
      • Select Computer Microphone, Phone, or Importing
      • Record (if you record, click the up arrow to upload) or import message
      • Click Done
      • Click Next
  15. Click Done
  16. Verify that the rule is Active
