Report Phishing

To help protect the TWU community from phishing and other email threats, the Report Suspicious tool is available in both Outlook and Gmail.

This tool allows you to quickly report suspicious emails to the TWU Information Security Team. Reported messages are automatically forwarded for analysis to help prevent threats from spreading across the university network.

Before You Report

If you receive an email that appears suspicious:

  • Do not click links or open attachments
  • Report the email as soon as possible

Do not report:

  • Emails already in your Junk/Spam folder
  • Emails flagged as spam in the Proofpoint digest (faculty and staff)

Report a Suspicious Email in Gmail or Outlook

Outlook (Desktop or Web)

  1. Open the suspicious email
  2. In the toolbar, select Report Suspicious 
    Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  3. When prompted, click Report to confirm

Gmail

  1. Open the suspicious email
  2. If needed, click the Show side panel icon (lower-right corner)
  3. Select Report Suspicious 
    Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  4. When prompted, click Report Phish

 

Report a Suspicious Emails from a Public Folders

The Report Suspicious tool does not work in public folders. To report a suspicious message from a public folder:

  1. Create a new email to servicedesk@twu.edu
  2. Attach (do not forward) the suspicious email

To attach an email in Outlook:

  1. Select New Email
  2. Click Attach Item
  3. Choose Outlook Item
  4. Select the email and attach it

You will receive a confirmation with instructions to delete the email.

If an email contains threats or feels urgent or dangerous, contact DPS at 940-898-2911.
