Install Google Drive File Stream

Google Drive files are accessible on the computer with Drive File Stream through File Explorer. Options include:

  • Save specific files and folders offline, including both My Drive and Shared drives.
  • View and organize files in the computer’s file system without using storage space.
  • Open files on a computer in the appropriate program.

Install Google Drive File Stream on Campus

  1. On a faculty/staff Windows desktop, click the Windows/Start button.
  2. Type "software center" and hit the enter key.
  3. In the Applications tab, single-click Drive File Stream.
  4. Click the Install button.
  5. After installation sign in using TWU Portal email address and password

Expected Outcome: New G:\ drive viewable in File Explorer.

Install Google Drive File Stream off Campus

  1. Navigate to Use Drive File Stream with work or school
  2. Download the appropriate Windows or Mac version
  3. After installation sign in using TWU Portal email address and password

Note: Drive file stream size limit will mirror computer's hard drive size limit. If limit is exceeded, files will need to be directly loaded to Google Drive to by pass upload size limit for drive file stream.
