NOTE: SPSS 28 does not work on macOS Sonoma
STEP 1 - Un-install Earlier Versions
If you currently have SPSS 25 (or another earlier version) on your Mac, you'll need to start by uninstalling the earlier version.
These instructions are subject to change by Microsoft and IBM
We strongly recommend a restart of your computer/laptop after you remove the older version and before you install the new version.
STEP 2 - Get the License Key
- Navigate to https://portal.twu.edu/spss.asp
- License code is listed with the download links
STEP 3 - Install SPSS 29 on a Mac
Note: These instructions are based on installing through a Firefox browser. Installations through other browsers may differ slightly.
- Navigate to https://portal.twu.edu/spss.asp
- Log on with TWU username and password
- Under Mac, click SPSS 29
◦ The file should begin to download. Click SPSSStatistics_29_Mac.pkg in the Downloads folder.
These downloads work best in the Firefox or Edge browser. Recommend right-clicking the link needed below and copying the link address, then pasting in the address bar of either Firefox or Edge.
- Double click SPSS_Statistics_Installer.app when the file mounts.
- Click open.
- Enter your password.
- Click ok.
- Click next.
- Click to accept the terms in the license agreement and click next.
- Click next.
- Click to accept the terms in the license agreement and click next.
- Click to accept the terms in the license agreement and click next.
- Click next.
- Click install.
- Click done.

- Return to the SPSS Statistics 29 License Authorization Wizard.
- Click next.
- Make sure authorized user license is selected and click next.
- Paste the key into the Enter Code: text box in the SPSS window.
- Click next.
- Click next.
- Click finish.
- Click the SPSSStatistics.app under the /Applications/IBM/SPSS/Statistics/29 directory to start the application.
