Change the start and end date of evaluations

There are limitations on start and end date edits. For example, an evaluation must be open a minimum of 10 days during a full semester, (and 7 days during a shorter semester). While the dates can be modified, a warning will appear if these standards are not met.

An instructor might change dates if the course ends before the end of the regular term (such as clinical courses that end before finals). The instructor could edit the open and close dates. Open and closed dates are determined by the term; therefore, only a small number of courses would need evaluation date adjustments.

  1. On the home page of the system (or Faculty > Manage My Evaluations), click Edit.
  2. Click Update to save changes.

Guidelines for Course Evaluations Application

  • Small classes are not eligible for evaluation.
  • Course evaluation cannot start before semester or course section starts.
  • Course evaluation cannot end before course section or semester starts.
  • Course evaluation cannot start after course section or semester ends.
  • Course evaluation cannot end after course section or semester ends.
  • Course evaluation must be open for at least 10 days for full semesters (and 7 days in shorter semesters).
  • One cannot change the existing schedule of the course evaluation if it is starting in 6 or fewer days.
  • The latest a course evaluation can end is 7 days prior to the course section’s end date.
  • Default dates when course evaluations become available to students are:
    • Start: when about 2/3 of the length of the course is over;
    • End: 10 days after the start date for full semesters and 7 days after the start date for shorter semesters.
  • A faculty member cannot edit a question once it has been answered by at least one student.
  • A faculty member cannot delete a question from a specific course once it has been answered by at least one student.
  • A faculty member cannot add a new question to a specific course if the evaluation is starting in 1 or less days, already started, or if there has been at least one response.
  • A faculty member cannot change the evaluation start date to a date in the past.

Default dates for course evaluations

  • Start: when about 2/3 of the length of the course is over;
  • End: 10 days after the start date for full semesters and 7 days after the start date for shorter semesters.
  • Exact course evaluation start and end dates may vary depending on term, but instructors may log into the system directly to view a list of their eligible course evaluations and respective start and end dates.

 Notes

  • Faculty can delete their own custom questions at any time, effectively removing the possibility of assignment of the deleted question to present or future courses.  Deleting a question from the personal pool of questions of a faculty member does not delete that same question from any past course evaluations already taken.
  • Students will receive a system-generated email notification the day the evaluation opens and two days before the evaluation closes.
  • Students are able to save the evaluation without submitting. Once the evaluation closes, those unsubmitted answers will qualify as submitted answers.
  • If offering extra credit, a student may take a screenshot of the course list in the evaluation system to confirm completion.
