Usernames and Passwords (Pioneer Portal)

Features

A user’s TWU portal username and password grants access to the network and many University systems, such as email, Web Advisor, and financial systems. Students must apply to the University before creating a Portal account.

Students: access application status and email, apply for scholarships and financial aid, register for Pioneer Emergency  Notifications

Faculty: access email and required training, register for Pioneer Emergency Notifications, upload syllabi and CV

Staff: access email, announcements, payslip information, and hourly timesheet (entry and/or approvals)

Passwords

Portal passwords must be changed at least once every 365 days to a different password. Each password must be unique – previous passwords should not be recycled. A user’s password may be stored in multiple locations or devices. Before changing a password, users are advised to identify where they may have their portal password stored. This could include a smartphone, home computer, VPN, tablet, laptop, and other devices.

Username changes, name changes, and domain changes should be requested following the established procedures.

Getting started

All TWU students, faculty, and staff members are assigned a Portal username. A user’s portal username is automatically assigned when they apply (students) and/or are hired (faculty/staff). 

Departments may request a Portal account for consultants or other non-paid staff by completing the Guest Access FormHuman Resources approval is required for associate, consultant, layoff, post doc associate, research affiliate, retiree, vendors, visitors, or other special employees.

  • Users may reset their passwords using the Password Reset Tool or by clicking "Forgot your password?" on the Pioneer Portal login page.
  • For security reasons, password reset requests require a phone call to the Technology Service Desk during business hours.

A "Portal account" is required for all students, faculty and staff at TWU to log-on to the network and all other systems. This is created on "Pioneer Portal," our intranet site, hence the name "Portal account."
