Shared File Storage (X-Drive)

Features

Network storage capability for all faculty, staff, and student employees is available through the X-Drive. Network data storage options for faculty and staff are provided through the X-Drive service.  The amount of storage is:

  • 20GB+ My Personal
  • 50GB+ My Shared (per user)

X-Drive will show personal usage only.

The X-Drive provides users with:

  • Personal and shared network storage that is backed up nightly.
  • Access from off-site through VPN for faculty and staff.

Inside the X-Drive users will see:

  • The My Shared folder stores all departmental information to which users have access. Inside 'My Shared' folder users can find their departmental folder. Anything located in these shared folders is read/write accessible to every member of the folder.
  • The My Personal Folder is for a user’s personal files. Users may use My Personal folder to manage their files.
  • Inside each Shared folder there are two system-generated files.  Membership_list.txt is a report on members of the group.  Group_usage_report.txt is a report of file usage within the group.

Getting started

  • When opening My Computer or This PC, shared folders, locate the mapped network drive labeled X.  
  • To create a new shared folder or manage the membership of an existing shared folder, use the Pioneer Portal tools
  • Any member of a shared folder can manage the membership of that folder through the Pioneer Portal Tools.

Request for a new folder (group) is made through a Portal tool. Upon approval, the folder is created and populated with any members specified during the request.
