NetSupport School - Scan Students

  1. Click Group.
  2. Click Scan.
  3. The Scan dialog box will appear.
  4. By default, all students will be included in the scan. To deselect specific students click next to the student name.
  5. Select the Scan Interval.
  6. Select Display one Client at a time or Display multiple Clients at a time. If selecting multiple students at a time, use the drop down menu to determine the number. (For example: 2 x 2 will show 2 screens across, 2 screens down)
  7. Click Scan.
  8. The Scan window will appear and immediately show the first student(s) in the sequence. It will cycle through the selected students, showing their screens on the instructor station until the scan is ended.
  9. To end the scan, click X in the upper right corner of the window.

The toolbar buttons for a single student Scan have the following functions:

  • Previous, Auto Advance and Next buttons
    Instructors can turn auto timing on or off from the Scan window toolbar, or choose to move forwards or backwards between individual Students. The Previous button shows the previous Student screen scanned. The Next button shows the next Student’s screen in the scan cycle.

  • Scale to Fit
    Choosing the Scale to Fit button will re-size the student machine screen to fit the window in which it is displayed.

  • Full Screen
    When scanning in full screen mode, the floating Scan toolbar is available to control the window.

  • Capture Screen Shot
    A snapshot of the current Student View window will be taken. Enter a file name and save the current screen contents to a file.

The toolbar buttons for a multiple student Scan have the following functions:

  • Previous, Auto Advance and Next buttons
    The insctructor can turn auto timing on or off from the Scan window toolbar, or choose to move forwards or backwards between individual Students. The Previous button shows the previous Student screen scanned. The Next button shows the next Students screen in the scan cycle.
  • Scale to Fit
    Choosing the Scale to Fit button will re-size the student machine screen to fit the window in which it is displayed.
  • Maximize
    To enlarge a student View window. This button will be greyed out until you select a student View window. To maximize the student View window, click the Maximize button or click the box in the top right-hand corner of the Client View window.
  • Lock
    To lock a selected Student’s keyboard and mouse. To unlock, click Lock again. (When the scan is stopped, the keyboard and mouse will be unlocked)
  • Chat
    To initiate a chat session between a student and the instructor.
  • Share
    To view a student in Share Mode.
  • Capture Screen Shot
    A snapshot of the current student View window will be taken. Enter a file name and save the current screen contents to a file.

Instructors can determine if a website is approved or restricted in NetSupport School.
NetSupport School is available in computer classrooms to enhance instructor / student interaction, as well as providing monitoring capabilities for the instructor.
