Computer Labs and Student Technology and Study Services: Denton Campus

​Blagg-Huey Library

  • The library has about 300 outlets around the building that are available for students to plug into.  They have added about 200 in 2013-2015.  They have added receptacles for multiple plugs so in some situations there are enough outlets for 4 devices to be plugged in at one time.

  • In addition to the primary computer lab on the first floor, there are computers on all floors of the library, 5-10, depending on the floor.

  • 2 mobile charging stations are available on the first floor.

  • Laptops, Chromebooks and headphones are available for checkout from the circulation desk.

  • Mini-din Android adapters, iphone 4, and iPhone 5/6 adaptors are available for four hour checkout.

  • 1 UbiDuo communication device is available for checkout.

Campus Computer Labs

All PCs on campus have Microsoft Office 2013, Blackboard Collaborate, IBM SPSS Statistics, Respondus (testing software), Symantec Endpoint Protection, and Alertus Desktop Alert for campus wide emergency notification. Refer to the campus map for building abbreviations and locations.

General Use Labs

The Megalab (MCL 201) has 85 computers. In addition to the standard Microsoft Office and SPSS Statistics software, it has 4 duplex (two-sided) black & white printers, and 10 stations with Nutritionist Pro, and Computrition Hospitality Suite. There is also a color printer in the computer area. Color printing costs $0.40 per page. Visa, MasterCard and Discover are accepted. Fall/Spring Hours of Operation: Monday-Thursday 7am-9pm, Friday 7am-5pm Summer Hours of Operation: Monday-Friday 7am-5pm

Blagg-Huey Library (BHL 1st Floor) has 65 PCs with the standard package of Microsoft Office and SPSS Statistics software. Stations #17-21 also have Nutritionist Pro, and Computrition Hospitality Suite. Two of the stations are dedicated to scanning. There are 2 two-sided black and white printers. ASB 107 has 40 PCs with the standard package of Microsoft Office and SPSS Statistics software. There are also 2 two-sided black and white printers. Hours of Operation: Monday-Friday 7am-9pm (with TWU ID card)

HDB 107 has 6 PCs with the standard package of Microsoft Office and SPSS Statistics software. There is also a two-sided black and white printer. Hours of Operation: Monday-Friday 7:30am-9pm

Student Union has 19 PCs with the standard package of Microsoft Office and SPSS Statistics software. There is also a two-sided black and white printer. Hours of Operation: Monday-Thursday 6am-Midnight, Friday-Sunday 6am-10pm

ART 106 has 19 Apple Computers. They contain 123D Design, 123D Make, The Adobe Master Collection CS 6, and SketchUp 2015. It also has a two-sided black & white printer.

ART 303C has 12 Apple Computers. They contain 123D Design, 123D Make, The Adobe Master Collection CS6, Audacity, and SketchUp 2015. It also has a two-sided black & white printer.

ASB 213 has 6 PCs which contain Audacity, Alice, Blue J, JCreator LE, Maple V, MatLab m2010a, NetLogo, NetLogo 3D 5.0, HubNet 5.0, Vensim PLE, SAS 9.3, SAS Graph ODS Graphics Editor 9.3, and SAS IML Studio 3.4. It also has a two-sided black & white printer.

ASSC 365 (SLRC) has 19 PCs with Odyssey Student 5.1. It also has a two-sided black and white printer. Hours of Operation: Monday-Thursday 8:30am-5:30pm, Friday 10am-4pm

CFO 129 has 7 PCS with the standard package of Microsoft Office and SPSS Statistics software. It also has a two-sided black & white printer.

DGL 123 has 8 Apple Computers with Microsoft Office 2011 and Logic Pro X. In addition, there is a two-sided black & white printer.

GRB 334 has 8 PCs with Refworks and VideoLAN Client

MCL 307 (MathLab) has 17 PCs with GIMP 2, GSP 4.07, MatLab R2011a, JCreator LE 5.0, NetBeans IDE 7.31, Nvivo 10, RStudio, SAS 9.3, SAS Graph ODS Graphics Editor 9.3, SAS IML Studio 3.4. In addition, there is a color printer. Hours of Operation: Monday-Thursday 7:30am-5pm, Friday 8am-4pm

MCL 309 has 21 PCs with Audacity, GIMP 2, J Creator LE 5, Lectra, Maple V, NetBeans, MikTex 2.9, Vensim PLE, TI-Nspire. It also has a two-sided black & white printer

MCL 310 has 23 PCs with Audacity, Putty, JCreator LE 5, Vample V, MikTex 2.9, NetBeans, Oracle VM Virtual Box, PX MOL, RStudio and Vensim PLE, It also has a two-sided black & white printer.

MCL 311 has 41 PCs with Audacity, Putty, JCreator LE 5, Vample V, MikTex 2.9, NetBeans, Oracle VM Virtual Box, PX MOL, RStudio and Vensim PLE, It also has a two-sided black & white printer.

MCL 411 has 41 PCs with Audacity, Alice, J Creator LE, Vaple V, Neat Beans and R Studio. It also has a two-sided black & white printer.

MUS 220 has 8 PCs with the standard package of Microsoft Office and SPSS Statistics software. It also has a two-sided black & white printer.

PH 116 has 9 PCs with the standard package of Microsoft Office and SPSS Statistics software. It also has a two-sided black & white printer.

PH 119 has 4 PCS with APEAS, Pinnacle Studio 16, SAS 9.3, SAS Graph ODS Graphics Editor 9.3, and SAS IML Studio 3.4

PH 123 has 8 PCs with MatLab R2014b, Anybody 5.2 and Kwon 3D XP

There is a commuter lounge with two computers on the first floor of the Student Union.

Housing Technology Services

All computer labs and technology assistance in residence halls are for TWU residential students.

  • Guinn Commons has 40 PCs with the standard package of Microsoft Office and SPSS Statistics software. It also has a two-sided black & white printer.

  • Lowry Woods has 18 PCs with the standard package of Microsoft Office and SPSS Statistics software. It also has a two-sided black & white printer.

  • Jones Hall has 8 PCs with the standard package of Microsoft Office and SPSS Statistics software. It also has a two-sided black & white printer.

There are lounges in the Guinn/Stark Commons and Jones Hall first floor with hardwire and wifi connections for resident and guest use.

Kiosks

There are 22 Internet Kiosks on the Denton campus that can be used for web browsing and checking of email. They are located in the hallways of: ASSC 1st Floor, ASSC 2nd Floor, MCL 4th Floor, MCL 5th Floor, MCL 7th Floor, ACT 1st Floor, ASB 1st Floor, ASB 2nd Floor, ASB 3rd Floor, CFO 2nd Floor, PH 1st Floor, and the Union  3rd Floor

Mobile Labs
Mobile labs contain multiple laptops available for use by specific departments. The laptops in these mobile labs include specialized software to serve the department’s needs. Some departments also allow students to check out these laptops to complete work off-campus using the specialized software included in each mobile lab.

  • Charging station in the Purple Lounge on the second floor of the Student Union
  • Walk up computer station with 7 computers (1 is handicap accessible) on first floor – all of these are connected to a single printer

  • Cyber Lounge area with 12 desktop computers on first floor

  • 8 desktop computers in the Underground Lounge

  • Purple Lobby area in SU 2nd Floor – 6 wall outlets and 7 outlets on the furniture

Veteran and Military Student Center
TWU has a dedicated space for our military affiliated students. The Veteran and Military Student Center is located on the Denton Campus in Jones Hall, rooms 106 and 107. The center is managed by the office of Commuter Services and offers a quiet study space with computers, desks, and a campus phone, as well as a space to relax with a refrigerator, microwave, and coffee maker. The center is staffed Monday through Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. However, members of the Student Veterans Association can use the center outside of these times by calling the office of Commuter Services.

Wifi Access

There is Wi-Fi in the student center, all classroom buildings (except ULB),and  all on-campus dorms (except Grove Street). Outdoors there is coverage through the center of campus.
