Computer Lab

There is an open computer lab on the fourth floor. Technologies and services available in the lab include:

  • 46 (forty six) study cubicles are available towards the end of the computer lab. Each one has a power charging station available with USB and USB-C plus power for the device on top of the surface, easily accessible.
  • 5 (five) collaboration/study spaces are housed inside the computer lab for students to studying and/or working on projects. In four of those collaboration rooms, a 55" TV monitor and a glass dry erase board (dry erase markers can be checked out from the student assistants on duty) are installed. These rooms are equipped with mobile screen share capability (DITTO)  where students can share content from their own mobile devices. Additionally, there is an HDMI wall port (HDMI cable can be checked out from the student assistants on duty) to connect any device with HDMI corresponding port.
  • 5 LaserJet printers, 60 PCs and 7 Macs; 2 book scanners, 1 flatbed auto feed scanner, and one document/single page scanner
  • Restricted color printing is available. Check with the ITS personnel for more details. One color printer is accessible through 3 scanner stations. Color printing maybe be subject to charge of $0.40 per page. Follow the instructions located next to the scanner station to print in color.
  • Mobile printing is also available in the lab. Please check the sign in the lab for instructions. 
  • Charging stations are available inside the computer lab for students to charge mobile devices. 
  • Student assistants are scheduled to be available when the lab is open (student assistants' availability may vary without notice).
  • Black and white printing is free to TWU students (please note may be changed without notice).
  • A library after hour drop-box book is available at the end of the computer lab.

Departmental Labs

Departmental labs are limited to students in specific programs. Each contains audio/visual and technology resources. The PT, OT, and Nursing labs are located on the fifth and sixth floors. 

Library Resources

The TWU Houston library can accommodate 24 students for study space. There are four table/chair sets (16) including three lounge chairs, and five individual study carrels. Students are allowed to eat and drink in the Library.

Pioneer Center for Student Excellence

10300 has an open study space for students to use along with two study rooms that are available when not reserved: 10300 C (capacity 10) and 10300 D (capacity 10). 10300 D has a computer and webcam available. Students are allowed to eat and drink in the Pioneer Center for Student Excellence.

Specialized Software

Specialized software is available for students in certain programs. 

Standard Software in Computer Labs

All PCs run Windows 10 Enterprise with the Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Edge and Chrome browsers, SPSS 25, and Respondus Lockdown Browser.

Study Rooms

On the third floor, there are wall-mounted monitors with VGA, and HDMI inputs and the cables are available for check-out from the student assistants in the computer lab on the fourth floor. Students must reserve the room through Student Life.

Students may also use any open classrooms to gather for study sessions, though sessions may be interrupted by scheduled classes or videoconferences. 

The University Scheduling Calendar allows you to see classrooms that have been reserved. Access to utilize this calendar must be done on campus through a university computer. Please check the University Scheduling Calendar for availability

Computer Classrooms (4115, 4310, and 4322)

Students may also use these computer classrooms for group study, though sessions may be interrupted by scheduled classes. Students should request that lab student assistants open the rooms for them.

Charging Stations

Wall-mounted mobile charging stations are available for students to charge mobile devices. They are located at the following:

  • 1st floor by the Cyber Cafe area,
  • 4th floor lounge area and inside the computer lab on 4th floor; 
  • 6th floor lounge area and
  • on 8th floor Legacy room.

Charging stations with power outlets and USB ports are available in the 5 collaboration rooms inside the computer lab on the 4th floor. They are also available in each of the seminar rooms including 2305, 3305, 4305, 5305, 6305, 7305, and 10305. 

Wifi Access

The entire building has wireless access.
