What is LinkedIn Learning?
LinkedIn Learning is an online training library of instructional videos (more than 160,000 videos in over 4,000 courses) that teaches the latest software, creative, and business skills. Taught by recognized industry experts, achieve personal, professional, or academic goals. New videos are added weekly.
Access the LinkedIn Learning library 24/7-even from your iPhone, iPad, Android device, or mobile phone-and watch entire courses or single tutorial videos as you need them.
How do I activate or access LinkedIn Learning?
Follow the instructions on LinkedIn Learning (First Time) Sign In to activate your account.
How do I log on using the Learning app?
Activating a LinkedIn Learning license is not available within the Learning apps; use a desktop device.
- Download LinkedIn Learning App
- Open the app
- Click Sign in
- Enter your @twu.edu email address
- Tap Continue
- Check the box I'm not a robot if prompted for a quick security check, and complete the security check
- Tap Continue to Texas Woman's University
- Enter your TWU email and password
- Click Login
Is there a limit on GitHub usage in LinkedIn Learning?
There is a limit of 60 free hours of Codespaces access per month per user via LinkedIn Learning, and this resets each month. Students and instructors are encouraged to close the browser window/tab when not actively working in Codespaces.
Do I need a LinkedIn account to use LinkedIn Learning?
No.
Features
Playlists
LinkedIn Learning offers playlists based on topics and also gives the user the option to create their own. The users can also share playlists with others via email or social media. Share playlists with employees, coworkers, or colleagues outside the university.
Bookmarks
Users can bookmark a specific video or sections of a specific video to view later. LinkedIn Learning also gives user the ability to modify the name of the bookmark or even add a description so they remember why they marked it. Users can also tag videos so they can categorize it for easier look up later.
Search
Look for a specific word (the name of a function in Excel for example) to see which videos contain information needed.
Notebook
Use the Notebook tab in a course to take notes while watching a class. This integrated note taking features time stamps the notes with a specific portion of a video. Notes are automatically saved and when the user reviews the notes, the user will be returned to that portion of the video. Notes can be exported as a .txt file.
Transcript
The search feature looks for a specific word in video transcripts. These transcripts allow users to read along, quickly search, and even allow them to jump to a specific section of the video by clicking on a portion of the transcript. [Hint: Use Ctrl+F or Command+F to search any website.]
Suggested Courses
After watching a course, there will be a section titled Members also Watched showing courses that are related and may be of interest. LinkedIn Learning allows users to define the types videos that might be of interest.
Exercise Files
Download exercise files and follow along with the instructor throughout the course.
Feedback
After finishing a course, users will be given the option to offer course feedback. LinkedIn Learning gives an option to request courses for subjects that people would like to see in the future.
Certificates of Completion
Watch all the videos in a course and receive a certificate of completion. Certificates can be printed, emailed to multiple users, shared on social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, or LinkedIn, and a link is provided to embed in a website.

LinkedIn Learning has free mobile apps for iOS and Android devices to watch LinkedIn Learning on the go. Watching training videos at the gym or while waiting in line really does make time fly!
