Update SPSS License Code

Start the IBM SPSS License Authorization Wizard

Windows  ​​​​

  1. Open the Start menu.
  2. In the list of programs, find a folder called either SPSS or IBM SPSS Statistics. Open that folder. (on Windows 10, the wizard should appear in search)
  3. In that folder, find a program called either SPSS License Authorization Wizard or IBM SPSS Statistics License Authorization Wizard.
  4. Click Yes to allow changes.
  5. Click the program to launch.

Mac OS

  1. In the Applications folder, locate an IBM folder. Open that folder.
  2. Inside that folder should be a folder called SPSS  28 (or 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25) (depending on the specific version). Open that folder.
  3. Locate an application called SPSS Statistics License Authorization Wizard. Double-click that program.
  4. The License Authorization Wizard should then launch.

Updating the License Code

  1. The wizard should display the License Status window, which shows the authorization status for all detected SPSS components.  Click Next.
  2. On the Product Authorization window, select the button next to Authorized user license (I purchased a single copy of the product).
  3. Click Next.
  4. Enter the new authorization code.
  5. Click Next.  (If you don't have the current code AND you previously installed SPSS using a TWU-provided code, retrieve it by contacting the Technology Service Desk. If you've never used a TWU-provided code, complete this End User License Agreement to obtain the current code.)   
  6. If successful, the installer should report "Successfully processed all codes." Click Next.
  7. Click Finish.
