Update Your @twu.edu Apple Account

Learn how to transfer a personal Apple Account using your @twu.edu email address to a personal email address and what to expect after the transfer.

If you received an email from Apple regarding your @twu.edu Apple ID, action is required. Texas Woman's University is reclaiming the @twu.edu domain to manage institutional accounts. If you currently use your @twu.edu email address for a personal Apple Account, you must transfer the account to a personal email address.

Choose an Option

• Option 1: Transfer your account now — Recommended: Update your email address before October 22, 2026
• Option 2: Wait until after October 22, 2026: Apple will automatically assign your account a temporary email address. You can update it later.

Option 1: Transfer Your Account Now

1. Select Get Started in the email from Apple, or go to appleid.apple.com and sign in with your current @twu.edu Apple Account.
2. Select Keep as a personal account when prompted.
3. Choose a new email address:

• Recommended: Select Create an iCloud email at iCloud.com and create a new email address.
• Or: Enter an existing personal email address, such as Gmail, Yahoo, or Outlook.

Important: We strongly recommend creating a new @icloud.com email address. Existing personal email addresses may already be linked to another Apple Account or used as a recovery address. Do not enter an existing @icloud.com address, as it may already be associated with another Apple Account.

4. Follow the prompts to confirm your new email address.

Your Personal Account After the Transfer

• Login: Your new personal email address
• Password: Your existing password remains unchanged.
• Data: Your subscriptions, purchases, iCloud data, and Family Sharing settings remain intact.

What Happens to Your @twu.edu Account?

TWU will create an official Managed Apple Account using your @twu.edu address and TWU credentials. This account will be used for university-related Apple services and features, including iCloud backups, contacts, biometrics, and other institutional tools.

Option 2: Wait Until After the Deadline

If you do not update your email address by October 22, 2026, Apple will automatically move your personal account to a temporary email address. Your temporary email address will follow this format: username-twu.edu@temporary.appleaccount.com You will still need to update the email address later to regain full access to your personal Apple Account.
