Add and record audio

When using the Add and record audio process, there is a known issue that random slides will not advance.

  1. Click the audio icon on the slide.
  2. The Playback ribbon will appear. Click Playback.
  3. Check settings in the Audio Options section.
  4. Click Slide Show.
  5. Check Play Narrations and Use Timings.
  6. Click Animations.
  7. In the Animation section click Play.
  8. Check settings in the Timing section.
  9. Click Transitions.
  10. In the Timing section check After
  11. Right click on the audio icon.
  12. Click Trim.
  13. In the Trim dialog box look at the End Time. Compare the End Time with the time noted in the Transitions ribbon, Timing section, to the right of After.
    1. If the End Time is larger than the time listed in the Transition ribbon, use the down arrow to lower the time as close as possible to the Transition time.
    2. If the End Time is smaller than the time listed in the Transition ribbon, click Cancel.

In some cases, the above steps still do not resolve the issue. For slides that have audio inserted, try these steps:

  1. On the audio icon, right-click and select Save Media as.
  2. Enter a name for the file, and select a location (desktop is fine).
  3. On the slide, right-click the audio icon and select Cut.
  4. Save the PowerPoint file.
  5. On the Insert ribbon, click the down arrow on Audio, select Audio on my PC.
  6. Navigate to and select the saved media file from step 2.
  7. Save the PowerPoint file.
