To help students meet school expenses, TWU administers a number of programs for financial assistance such as scholarships, grants, work study and loans. Financial need, academic and citizenship records, and promise of achievement are considered when applications for assistance are processed.

The Office of Student Financial Aid is responsible for administering all student aid programs. If you need information about financial aid or assistance with completing forms, please contact your campus Financial Aid office or refer to the main website or your campus website.

Renewal of financial assistance from year to year is not automatic; therefore you must submit a new application each year.

To be eligible for grants, scholarships, loans, and campus employment, undergraduate and graduate students you must maintain satisfactory academic progress in their courses of study. Satisfactory Academic Progress is reviewed at the end of each term. In order to maintain financial aid eligibility, students must successfully complete at least sixty-seven percent (66.67%) of all courses attempted each term and meet or exceed the appropriate minimum cumulative grade point average for their classification. Undergraduate students must maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 1.80 during the freshman year and at least 2.00 during the sophomore, junior, and senior years. Graduate students must maintain a cumulative GPA of at least a 3.0. A student may attempt not more than 150% of the credits required by his or her degree plan. Grades of F, FS, FN, I, NC, NG, X, W, WP, WF, and # will not satisfy the academic progress requirement.

Failure to meet the minimum satisfactory academic progress standards will result in financial aid warning. A student on financial aid warning will be permitted to receive aid for one semester. If the student meets the minimum requirements during the warning semester, she or he will return to good standing. Failure to meet the standards will result in the loss of financial aid eligibility until the minimum standards are met. Students with mitigating circumstances, such as a serious illness, a serious injury, learning disability and/or death of a close relative may appeal their satisfactory academic progress status.

In applying for and receiving financial assistance from the university, you are obligated to respect the policies and regulations of the University and to furnish complete and accurate information on the application. Any financial aid recipient who withdraws from the university prior to the completion of sixty percent of a semester will have to refund part or all of the financial aid received for that semester. The amount of refund will be determined at the time of the student’s withdrawal.

Student aid eligibility for grants, loans and campus employment is based on enrolled courses that apply toward the your degree, certificate or other recognized credential.  At least half-time enrollment (6 undergraduate hours, 5 graduate hours) per term is required for most financial aid programs.  Certain financial aid programs may be prorated or removed based on less than full-time enrollment.

For additional information visit our website, or read the University General Catalog.
