Automated Call Distribution (ACD)

The Automated Call Distribution (ACD) system is an essential tool for campus call centers, providing a means to effectively manage large volumes of incoming phone calls.

Back-ups and Data Recovery

All network storage (X-Drive, Network Personal and Network Shared) is backed up nightly to enterprise-level servers with multiple points of file redundancy.

Blackboard Learning Management System

Blackboard is a web-based application which allows instructors to put class materials on the Internet.

Cable TV Service

Charter Communications provides basic cable TV service is provided in all residence hall rooms, as well as select office buildings on the TWU Denton campus.

Calendar (Google Suite, Office 365, Outlook)

Multiple calendars can be created and shared, allowing different levels of permissions for each user.

Campus Operators

Live operators direct all calls received at 940-898-2000.

Canvas Learning Management System

Canvas is a web-based application which allows instructors to put class materials on the Internet.

Cellular Discounts

A TWU email address (username@twu.edu) may allow a discount on cellular phone service.

Classroom and Videoconference Technology Training

Upon request, a member of the classroom support team will meet with the user and train them on how to use the technology in the classroom or videoconference room.

Classroom Hardware and Upgrades

TWU classrooms are designed to meet the varied needs of the faculty, students and departments across the University. Classroom technology hardware serves as a medium to accentuate, enhance, and facilitate pedagogy.

Classroom Media and AV

Classroom AV and media include clickers, Tegrity lecture capture, AMX touch panels, Apple TV, and microphones.

Cloud Storage (Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive)

Google Drive for Faculty and Staff is a cloud storage service that allows users to upload, create, edit, and work collaboratively with others on a variety of documents online.

Computer Allocation and Replacements

The computer replacement program provides all eligible employees a computer and manages the operational costs associated with the rapid growth of technology related to personal computing by a replacement cycle of four years.

Computer Classrooms

By allowing students access to computers in class, they can fully engage their professor during class time and learn to effectively use the programs required for class.

Conference Room Technology

The Office of Technology provides several video-conference rooms equipped with Cisco codecs and HD quality LifeSize units.

Custom Application/Form Development

Sometimes off-the-shelf software cannot meet the unique and complex requirements of a department, group, or business organization. TWU’s team of experienced developers and project coordinators can help, whether the need is a minor adjustment to existing software or the implementation of a major system.

CV Content Management System (Sedona)

Sedona allows faculty to input contributions to teaching, scholarship, service, and other CV-related data into a database.

Technology can assist users with data transfer in the event that files need to be moved from one device or location to another.

Database Administration

The TWU DBAs support Oracle and Microsoft SQL databases for the TWU community.

Digital Signage

Digital signage is a technology that allows users to post information that would traditionally be put on a bulletin board on a digital display.

Directory (Email and Telephone)

TWU provides a searchable directory of faculty, staff, and student employees. There is also a directory search by department.

Email Accounts

TWU utilizes both Microsoft Exchange and Google Apps for Education for email service.

Emergency Notifications (Pioneer Emergency Notification System)

Texas Woman's University Department of Public Safety uses a variety of methods to alert students, faculty, and staff in case of a significant emergency on a campus.

Event Support

The Office of Technology assists with the audio and video recordings of events and productions sponsored by the University. The Office of Technology provides high quality HD Video production and digital Audio recordings to broaden the reach of idea sharing that can be saved and shared on the web.

Export Controls on Electronic Devices

In accordance with TWU Regulation and Procedure 1.22, the Office of Technology provides laptops and certificates for employees who plan to travel to foreign countries.

Google Analytics

Google Analytics is a service offered by Google that generates detailed statistics about a website's traffic and traffic sources, and measures such things as conversions and sales. It's the most widely used website statistics service.

Graphic Design Services and Poster Printing

The Center for Faculty Excellence can help with design, such as Blackboard banners for courses. The Center for Faculty Excellence & the Office of Technology provide poster printing services.

Guest Access

Individuals such as contractors, visiting scholars, and others such as support staff from outside companies may be eligible for TWU portal usernames.

Hard Drive Magnetizing (Degausser)

Degaussing (magnetizing) hard drives is an industry best practice for data security.

TWU negotiates with vendors to secure discounts on hardware for TWU students, faculty, and staff.

ID cards and readers are managed by ID and Dining Services.

Instant Messaging (Skype for Business and BB IM)

Microsoft Skype for Business and BB IM are communications tools that offer instant messaging (IM), as well as many other features to enhance collaboration and communication in an organization.

Client Services employs a dedicated team of technicians to ensure stable operation of all TWU computer labs and computer classrooms.

Mailing Lists

Technology maintains mailing lists associated with HR records for faculty, staff, students, adjunct faculty, GTAs, etc. Lists are also broken-down by department and by campus.

Managed Workstations and Patch Management

The Managed Workstation program is TWU’s approach to managing University software and hardware computer needs.

Moving Computers (Inventory Control)

All computers are classified as “controlled items” by State Property Accounting (SPA). TWU is required by the State to maintain an inventory of all computers. Property Control in Facilities Management is responsible for maintaining the inventory of controlled and capitalized items.

Offsite Network Connection (VPN)

Use of a “virtual private network” application creates a secure, encrypted communication channel over the Internet that effectively connects the user’s computer directly to the TWU network.

On-Demand, Online Training (Lynda.com)

Lynda.com is an online subscription library that teaches the latest software tools and skills through high-quality instructional videos taught by recognized industry experts.

On-Site Support

The Office of Technology provides on-site support for each of our three campuses.

Oracle E-Business Suite (Phoenix)

In addition to primary support with the Oracle "Phoenix" E-Business Suite (Budget, Finance, & HR) system, Enterprise Applications can provide "out of the box" support to meet the unique requirements of a TWU department, group, or business organization--whether the need is a minor adjustment to the existing software or the implementation of a new product, new screen/form, report, or process.

TWU provides Google Suite for Education which includes the Sites application.

Phone Banks (Phone-a-thon)

Departments and components may request activation of a phone bank to use for outreach and/or fundraising.

TWU-CHANNEL is the non-profit Public, Educational, Government (PEG) cable access channel allocated by the franchise agreement between the City of Denton and Charter Communications for Texas Woman’s University.

Pioneer Portal is a user’s gateway to self-service.

Printing and Printer Setup

Printing is available through network printers (owned or leased). Open access computer lab printers are managed by GoPrint stations that are used to track and release print requests.

Choose from various software to support word processing, data analyzing, presenting, desktop publishing, calendar-keeping, emailing, and PDF needs.

Professional Memberships

TWU Technology maintains relationships, memberships, and partnerships with various professional organizations to strengthen the quality of services offered.

The Office of Technology offers the ability to create quotes and request bids for Office, Classroom, Lab, or Conference room technology needs. Requesting a quote or bid through the Office of Technology ensures that users will receive the correct technology that will fulfill the needs of the project at the best possible price.

The Office of Technology provides access to transaction data as well as historical data that resides in any of TWU's centrally maintained systems.

Student Information System (Ellucian Colleague WebUI)

Colleague is the software package that houses the University’s information in areas that include processing of student applications and registration, scheduling of classes, assisting in financial aid processing, processing of payment of tuition and fees, reporting grades and transcripts, and more.

Student Technology Assistants and Resources Program (STAR)

Student Technology Assistants and Resources (STAR) is a technology resource program for all currently enrolled TWU students.

Students Advisory Committee for Technology (StudentsACT)
