Creating Blogs, Journals, Wikis, and Podcasts in Canvas (Instructors)

The Center for Development, Design and Delivery (CD3) has created several Social Media Templates for you to importing into your Canvas course. These templates include:

  1. Blog Template - The Blog Discussion allows for two levels of nesting, the original post by the teacher and subsequent replies by students.
  2. Journal Template - The Journal Assignment allows students to upload multiple journal entries, for example, weekly. The student will not be able to see previous submissions; however, the teacher can access all of that student's submissions in SpeedGrader using the drop down in the upper right corner of the screen.
  3. Wiki Template - The Wiki allows students to edit the page and add content or make updates to the Wiki Page.
  4. Podcast Template - The Podcast Discussion allows for two levels of nesting, the original podcast posted by the teacher and subsequent podcast replies by students.

You can personalize, customize, or enhance your Blog, Journal, Wiki, or Podcast assignments once you have imported them into your Canvas course. If you would like assistance getting started with a Social Media Template in your Canvas course contact your Instructional Design Partner.
