Panopto is a lecture capture application that is used to create recordings of classroom-based activities that are made available for review by students in a course.

After a Panopto recording has been uploaded you can:

  1. Add a quiz to the Panopto recording: Add a Quiz to a Video or Quizzing Overview (Video)
    1. Canvas Quiz Reporting (Video)
  2. Edit your Panopto recording: Basic Editing
  3. Close Caption and edit your Panopto recording: ASR Generated Captions or Importing Automatic Captions (Video)
    • Note: It can take up to 2 hours after the Panopto recordings has been processed for the Import Automatic Captions option to be available for selection.
  4. Allow students to create recordings in your course: Use Assignment Folders for Student Recordings
    • Note: An Assignment Folder is a subfolder that shares its user list with its parent folder but gives the users some additional privileges. Assignment folders enable Viewer users in their parent folder to create and manage their own content while preventing them from viewing other users' content that has not been explicitly shared or made public.
