Panopto Lecture Capture in Canvas (Instructors)

Panopto is a lecture capture application that is used to create recordings of classroom-based activities that are made available for review by students in a course.

 

To enable Panopto Recordings in Canvas:

  1. Log into Canvas and open the course
  2. Enable Panopto Recordings on the Course Menu. The directions include: How do I manage Course Navigation links?

How to share a Panopto video in Canvas?

 

You can share Panopto videos by either sharing a link to the video or by embedding the video in Canvas.
  1. Embed Panopto videos anywhere there is a Rich Content Editor in Canvas: Embed Panopto Videos in a Canvas Course

How to move Panopto videos to another course?

 
To move one Panopto Recording at a time from one Folder (Canvas Course) to another Folder (Canvas Course):
  1. Log into Canvas and open the course
  2. From Course Navigation click Panopto Recordings
  3. Select the Panopto Recording and click Move
  4. A window will pop up with name of the Panopto Recording to move
  5. From the Choose a folder drop-down menu select the folder to move the Panopto Recording
  6. Click Move. Once the word Done appears in place of the Move button the recording will have been moved and it is safe to close out the window

How to copy Panopto videos?

To make one Panopto recording available in multiple Canvas courses, to copy more than one Panopto recordings from one Canvas course to another, or to make one Panopto Recording available in multiple Canvas courses, please submit a Service Desk ticket and include:
  1. The name(s) of the Panopto Recordings and the Canvas course they are currently available
  2. The name(s) of the Canvas courses to copy or move the Panopto Recordings
