Living Learning

Living Learning Communities (LLC) at Texas Woman’s University provide student learning opportunities outside of the classroom that strengthen student intellectual and personal growth. They are designed to integrate curricular and co-curricular experiences that complement and extend classroom learning by fostering faculty and resident interaction that enhances the intellectual and personal development of the residents.

The various communities are structured so that students have a high degree of involvement in the program. Most participants in LLC are enrolled in the same class(es) and all participate in social and academic groups while residing in Parliament Village. All courses offered in the LLC program are a part of the University's core curriculum.

Upper class students, who are alumna serve as the RAs (resident assistants) and ASAs (academic support assistants) for the communities, providing valuable resources and assistance to the residents in the community.

Living Learning Communities are beneficial in providing students frequent interaction with faculty and university leaders, access to peer advisor and community study hours, assistance in reaching academic goals, classroom learning extended to the residence hall, a means to address social and academic concerns, network of friends, community spirit and tendency to achieve higher grades and rate of retention.
