TWU Athletics fosters school spirit throughout the University, enhances campus life on the Denton campus and live streams all home events so fans everywhere can support the Pioneers. You will proudly wear maroon and white for TWU's five NCAA Division II programs. The Pioneers compete in Basketball, Soccer, Softball and Volleyball in the Lone Star Conference, and as an independent in Gymnastics. The Pioneers also sponsor women’s wrestling, an NCAA emerging sport, artistic swimming, which competes in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation, and STUNT. Students are admitted free to all regular-season using their TWU seven-digit ID number to access the All-Sports Pass on twuathletics.com/tickets.

The game-day atmosphere is exciting for students and community fans. There are plenty of fun activities, contests and giveaways such as our annual Pack the House Nights, halftime games, and free t-shirts!  At volleyball and basketball games, the Pioneer Pep Band and the Pioneer Pride Dance Team entertain the crowd and keep the energy high in Kitty Magee Arena, especially when the school fight song is played. Our mascot Oakley loves to take photos with fans in the stands. You’ll find Oakley dancing and cheering the Pioneers on to victory!

You can also have a great on-campus job by working in the Athletics department. Athletics hires many student workers to assist with home event management duties such as set up and tear down, sports information, tickets, concessions, marketing and promotions. Teams also hire student managers.

TWU Athletics is committed to the philosophy of academic and athletic excellence where the student comes first in student-athlete. We are proud to say that since 1982, the combined grade point average of all Pioneer student-athletes each semester has been higher than 3.0. The Athletics graduation rate is also exceptional. We strive to recruit and retain talented student-athletes who will be academically successful culminating in the attainment of their degree.

The Pioneers have won conference, regional and national championships. Most recently, TWU Gymnastics won its 12th USA Gymnastics Collegiate National Championship in April 2022 with a season-high score of 196.025. During the 2021-22 season, TWU Basketball won their first NCAA South Central Regional game. In its first year of competition, the Artistic Swimming team placed fourth in the U.S. Collegiate National Championships. Individual student-athletes have set national records, achieved All-America honors, and received Hall of Fame honors. In 2022, TWU celebrated its first student-athlete to be inducted into the Lone Star Conference Hall of Honor, 2011-14 softball student-athlete Bailey Vrazel.

(The student services and resources described are available to students currently enrolled at the University. For some services or events, a fee may be charged and/or proper TWU identification may be required. Services vary from one university site to another.)
