Getting Started with Voicemail

Setup voicemail or change voicemail greeting

  1. Call the voicemail system extension. For Denton: 4646 (from campus) or 940-898-4646 (off campus). For Dallas or Houston: 81-4646 (from campus) or 940-898-4646 (off campus).
  2. When the system answers, press # to access voicemail. A mailbox number for Denton is 81 + the 4 digit extension. A mailbox number for Dallas is 82 + the digit extension and for Houston it is 84 + the 4 digit extension. The system will ask for a security code, enter 1234. The system will prompt to enter a new security code between 4-10 digits. It cannot be the same or similar to the phone number.
  3. The system will prompt to record a nametag. This is a name or name and department only.
  4. The system will prompt to record a greeting. This will play for callers when they reach voicemail.
  5. When finished, hang up.

Setup when voicemail will answer

Clear all previous forwarding. Do both of these steps:

  1. Pick up the receiver, press #1, hang up.
  2. Pick up the receiver, press #2, hang up.

Forward the phone to the voicemail system. Choose one of the following settings:

  • For all call forwarding (all calls go directly to voicemail) pick up the receiver, if in Denton, press *1 + 4646, hang up. If in Dallas or Houston, press *1 + 814646, hang up.
  • For partial forwarding (calls go to voicemail if there is no answer or busy) pick up the receiver, if in Denton, press *2 + 4646, hang up. If in Dallas or Houston, press *2 + 814646, hang up.

Common functions of the voicemail MIC 3.0 system

Logging In:

Dial voicemail system number, dialing from the following:

  • Denton Campus: 4646
  • Dallas/Houston Campus: 814646
  • Off Campus: 940-898-4646

Enter your mailbox number followed be #: This is a 6 digit number that contains your campus code + extension

The campus codes for the campuses are as follows:

  • Denton: 81
  • Dallas: 82
  • Houston: 84

Enter the security code followed by #. For security code assistance contact the Service Desk.

User will hear “Your primary mailbox cannot be opened please wait while we attempt to connect to your back-up mailbox."  The mailbox will play the current status and begin to play voicemails. Please verify the status before making any changes.

Main Menu:

  • 1 Messages and Appointments
    • 1 Retrieve Voicemail Recordings (listen to New/Saved messages)
    • 2 Retrieve Faxes (listen to New/Saved faxes)
    • 3 Retrieve Email (listen to New/Saved email)
    • 4 Access Calendar
    • 5 Recently Deleted Messages(Manage deleted Voicemail, Faxes, and Email)
  • 2 Outbound Interactions
    • 1 To send a message
    •  2 To place a call
  • 3 Change Status
    • 1 Available
    • 7 Out of the Office-the system will offer the option to set an "until" date and time. Press 1 to enter a date, press 2 to enter a time. To skip this step press 3.

Only use options 1 Available or 7 Out of the Office

  • 4 Personal Options *
    • 1 Personal Prompts
    • 2 Change Passcode
    • 3 Configure Playback Options
    • 4 Enhanced Messaging Options
  • 5 Personal Groups
    • 1 Add New Personal Group
    • 2 Review Personal Groups
    • 3 Delete Group

* To record a new voicemail greeting: After pressing *, press 4 and follow the prompts. In order to save the new recording press #1 at the end of the recording.

  • 1 Record your standard greeting
  • 2 Listen to your standard greeting
  • 3 Record Your Out of Office Greeting
  • 4 Listen to Your Out of Office Greeting
  • 5 Record Your Name
  • 6 Listen to Your Name

To avoid deleting portions of the voicemail account, avoid using these options:

  • 7 Deactivate Your Out of Office Greeting 
  • 8 Deactivate Your Standard Greeting 

Message Playback Options

  • 0 Hear more options
  • 1 Replay messages
  • 2 Forward message
  • 3 Fast forward
  • 4 Slow down
  • 5 Reply to message
  • 6 Speed up
  • 7 Delete message
  • 8 Skip to next
  • 9 Save message
  • # Go to end
