Labs

Features

Currently, there are over 1140 computers spread across the University’s three locations. These resources include twelve computer classrooms, sixteen departmental labs, and eight open access labs for general use. Additionally, internet kiosks are strategically located in high traffic areas to assist users. Each workstation requires a Pioneer Portal account to log on and includes a standard collection of software applications including Microsoft Office.

Computer labs

Open Access Labs

The Open Access Labs provide general availability use for computer access. All open labs provide basic Internet services to access the user’s TWU portal. Most labs also provide Microsoft Office and by location may provide software specific to class needs for use outside of general classroom hours. See Related Articles (on the right) for information on lab hours and software availability.

Computer Classrooms

The computer classrooms include a computer station for each student to work on during class. Some classrooms also include specialized software for a particular department.  There is also a multimedia instructor station with identical software to make it easy for students to follow along.

Department Labs

The department labs are set-up by the department to allow studies by their students specific to the fields they are enrolled in. These labs are tailored to the needs of the department and may have software that is not available elsewhere on campus. These labs are for students enrolled in corresponding classes only.

Mobile Labs

Mobile labs contain multiple laptops available for use by specific departments. The laptops in these mobile labs include specialized software to serve the department’s needs. Some departments also allow students to check out these laptops to complete work off-campus using the specialized software included in each mobile lab.
