Respondus LockDown Browser is a custom browser that locks down the online testing environment within Canvas. When students use LockDown Browser with Canvas Quiz, they are unable to print, copy, go to other websites, access other applications, or close the test until it is submitted for grading. Tests created for use with Respondus LockDown Browser cannot be accessed with standard browsers.
Honorlock provides on-demand proctoring services that removes access to test content from the Internet, prevents mobile devices from searching test answers online, disables multiple screens, and allows a live agent to help students through the authentication process before starting a quiz. Honorlock has students use a web camera during an online, non-proctored exam that is taken from home and not in TWU computer lab.
In Canvas, Sandbox courses are given to instructors by request to create new course content and to experiment with different features in Canvas. Sandboxes can be created for a specific course or for generic testing and looking at new Canvas features that are available every month.
Classroom computer does not play audio through the installed speakers. When waking from sleep, Windows will sometimes switch to the first audio output device it sees, rather than the previously-selected output. This will cause audio to be played from the computer itself, a monitor, or to not be audible at all.
Respondus LockDown Browser is a software application that must be installed on the workstation or laptop before attempting to complete an online Canvas assessment. The application serves as a virtual proctor by preventing printing, capturing the screen to copy assessment questions, disabling messaging and screen-sharing, disabling function keys, and disabling access to other applications and Internet content.
Zoom is an online service your instructor can use for live meetings, presentations, and training that supports real-time sharing of computer screens, individual applications or web-based content among two or more computers or mobile devices.
Honorlock is an online proctoring service that allows you to take your exam from your home. You DO NOT need to create an account or schedule an appointment in advance. Honorlock is available 24/7, and all that is needed is a computer, a working webcam, microphone, your ID, a stable Internet connection, and the Google Chrome browser. Honorlock will NOT run on an iPad.
