Help, I received a requests for TWU Documents!

Summary

Here is what you should do if you as an employee receive a document that looks to be a Request for Public Information

Body

TWU employees may receive Open Records Request (TPIA or FOIA) in many different ways; e-mail, regular mail, hand delivery, fax, or verbally.

Texas law does require all written request for information to be answered within ten (10) business days of its receipt. Conversely, Texas law does not require a state agency to respond to a verbal request for public information.

Texas Woman’s University has a dedicated e-mail address for electronic Public Information Request, so if  you as an employee receive a document that looks to be a Request for Public Information (it need not say “REQUEST FOR PUBLIC INFORMATION”), please follow the guidelines below.

  1. Request Received via E-mail
    1. DO NOT FORWARD the request to our Office via e-mail!
    2. Reply to the sender that they may send their records request to the University by
  • faxing the request to the TWU Office of the General Counsel at (940) 898-3244;
  • mailing the request to the TWU Office of the General Counsel Attn: Information Officer, P.O. Box 425497; Denton, Texas 76204;
  • hand delivering the request to 304 Administration Dr., ACT 14th Floor, Denton, TX 76204; or
  • e-mailing the request to openrecordsrequest@twu.edu.

“Thank you for your e-mail, however Texas Woman’s University has a dedicated e-mail address for electronic Public Information Request. Please send your request to openrecordsrequest@twu.edu.
