Use Phish Report when you receive an email that looks suspicious, unexpected, or unusual. Reporting these messages helps the IT Security team identify potential threats and protect the TWU community.
When to Use Phish Report
Use Phish Report when an email:
- Ask for passwords or sensitive information
- Request money, gift cards, or payment
- Include unexpected links or attachments
- Create a sense of urgency
- Appear to come from someone you know but seem unusual
- Request changes to payment or banking information
- Offer unexpected job or employment opportunities
- Otherwise seem suspicious or unexpected
Report a Suspicious Email in Gmail
- Open the suspicious email.
- Select the three-dot menu (...) near the Reply button.
- Select Phish Report.
Report a Suspicious Email in Outlook
- Open the suspicious email.
- Select Phish Report from the Outlook toolbar.
You may also find Phish Report by selecting the three-dot menu (...) on the message. Note: The location of Phish Report may vary depending on the version of Gmail or Outlook and the device you are using.
After Reporting
The reported message is sent to the appropriate IT security team for review. Reporting suspicious messages helps IT Solutions identify potential threats and protect the TWU community. You do not need to determine whether an email is actually malicious before reporting it. If you are unsure, report it.
