At TWU, we know that great teams don’t just happen—they’re built, appreciated, and celebrated. In keeping with our commitment to fostering a positive and appreciative workplace culture, we’re excited to share the list of Employee Recognition Days tailored to the unique roles within your department.
What are Employee Recognition Days?
Think of these as your department’s very own “appreciation holidays”— dedicated moments to spotlight the outstanding contributions of the staff and faculty who help make our campus a place of learning, service, and support. From Administrative Professionals Day to IT Professionals Day, these celebrations honor the people behind the purpose.
Why Recognition Matters (besides just being the right thing to do!)
When you take a moment to say, “Hey, you’re doing an amazing job,” you’re doing much more than handing out a thank-you card:
-
You’re showing Caring—a core part of TWU’s heart-forward culture.
-
You’re creating Opportunities for engagement, growth, and retention.
-
You’re promoting Wellbeing by making employees feel seen and supported.
-
You’re nurturing Collaboration by strengthening team bonds.
-
You’re encouraging Creativity—yes, even recognition can be fun and themed!
-
You’re reinforcing Excellence—because people perform better when they feel valued.
-
And you’re reminding everyone that they work on a Campus with a Heart.
Oh, and one more thing: recognized employees are more likely to go above and beyond for students, each other, and our shared mission. That’s a win-win-win.
How to Recognize Employees (even on a budget!)
Visit Celebration Ideas for some ideas to get you started—and don’t hesitate to get creative (even AI can help spark inspiration!). Here are a few fun options:
-
Surprise donuts or coffee breaks
-
Decorate their office door with kudos and kind words
-
Host a 15-minute shout out session during a staff meeting
-
Share personalized thank-you notes from colleagues or students
Just mark your calendar at least a month in advance and plan something thoughtful. Even small, simple gestures can go a long way in making someone’s day.
