This video gives a quick overview of the product.

To access Skype for Business in Windows:

  1. Click the Start button.
  2. Click All Programs.
  3. Click Microsoft Office (2010 or 2013).
  4. Click Skype for Business 2015.
  • TWU Technology recommends that all users watch the LinkedIn Learning Skype for Business Essential Training course before using the product.
  • There are Skype for Business mobile apps available for mobile devices.
  • Skype for Business' rich features are most available on Microsoft, Android, and Windows operating systems. Apple products (Mac, iPad, iPhone) will have diminished features.
  • Faculty and staff should contact the Technology Service Desk to have the full Skype for Business client installed on a laptop.
  • As of January 2017, the recording feature is not available. Faculty and staff may continue to use Blackboard Collaborate to record.
  • Skype for Business is not recommended for webinar use. Attendees must have a microphone to hear audio in the Skype for Business meeting. There is a workaround, but it can be more complex than joining a Blackboard Collaborate session.

How to . . .

Skype works best with a webcam and/or headset with microphone. Here are some (of hundreds) of options:

  • Microsoft LifeCam HD-3000
  • Logitech HD Webcam C270
  • Logitech ClearChat Comfort/USB Headset H390
