Transferring Calls

NEC multi-line phones

Press TRF to transfer a called/calling party to another destination. There will be an opportunity to announce the caller to the person they are being transferred to or hang up to complete a blind transfer.

Single-line phones

Press Flash and enter the extension. There will be an opportunity to announce the caller to the person they are being transferred to or hang up to complete a blind transfer.

Polycom VoIP/ACD phones

Transfer a caller using the PC client or use the Transfer soft key on the phone to complete the transfer.

Transfer a call directly to voicemail

NEC multi-line phones

1)   With a caller on the phone, press TRF. This action puts the caller on hold.

2)   Dial extension 81-4646 (pilot number into the TWU voicemail system).

3)   Press Option 2 (Quick Message).

4)   The system asks for the recipient extension/mailbox number. Enter the extension.

5)   Hang up to connect the caller to the user’s mailbox greeting.

Single-line phones

1)   With a caller on the phone, press Flash. This action puts the caller on hold.

2)   Dial extension 81-4646 (TWU voicemail system number).

3)   Press Option 2 (Quick Message).

4)   The system asks for the recipient extension/mailbox number. Enter the extension.

5)   Hang up to connect the caller to the user’s mailbox greeting.

Polycom VoIP/ACD phones

To transfer a call use the PC client software to initiate a transfer.

Enable/Use Speaker Phone

NEC multi-line phones

  1. Press FNC + 5
  2. Press FNC + 1. Your MIC light must be lit red.

To make a call, press SPKR (the red light shows the speaker is on). You may dial a number, talk, or monitor a call without lifting your handset.
To hang up, press the SPKR button off. This shuts off the speaker capability and the red speaker light goes out.

If you leave your SPKR button on and don’t do anything, you will soon hear a reorder tone to alert you. If enough time passes, a loud sound will alert you.

Speed Dial (one-touch) Buttons

NEC multi-line phones

1)   With the handset down press FNC (it remains lit).

2)   Press the one-touch button to program.

3)   Dial the complete phone number (or extension number) and press FNC again (the light goes out).

4)   The display will show SPD SET if successful.

5)   Test to ensure the button was successfully programmed.

6)   Repeat this process to program other buttons.

Single-line phones

1)   Lift the handset or press SPKR.

2)   Press Store.

3)   Press the one-touch button to program.

4)   Dial the complete number or extension.

5)   Hang up the handset.

6)   Test to ensure the button was successfully programmed.

7)   Repeat this process to program other buttons.

Polycom VoIP/ACD phones

To program a speed dial use the PC client software to initiate programming.
